Daily Skin Care Routine for Hot n Humid Summer

Weathers have great impacts on our skin. Our skin also needs special requirements according to changing weather. During summer, humidity as well as hot atmosphere is normal. Humidity is good for dry skin but it proves to be purgatory for oily and sensitive skin. It causes acne, sweat, tan, eczema etc. in oily skin. Dust, UV rays and heat affects oily and sensitive skin badly. So special skin care should be taken for these types of skin where dry skin is less prone to all these problems.

One should incorporate following tips to stay away from above problems and make their skin glow as always:

1. Cleansing: clean your face twice or thrice in a day whether you’ve been home all day.  Wash the face before going to bed at night, in the morning and preferably after coming from outside. Cleansing your face before sleeping is absolute.

2. Toning: toning is very essential for oily skin. It reduces the open pores from the skin and evens the skin tone. It is also useful in removing the tan. Rose water can be used as a toner as it’s natural cooling properties makes it an excellent toner.

3. Moisturizing: it’s very important for our skin. During summer, gel based moisturizers like aloe vera gel, papaya gel or cucumber gel can be used for moisturizing. Aloe vera is an important element in all the beauty products. It reduces the dark spots, makes the skin glowing, evens the skin tone and makes it smooth.

4. Exfoliating: this is very necessary in summers. It removes the dead cells and dulling skin debris and prevents from congestion. It also improves hydration. It should be done prior to toning and moisturizing, make up. One of the benefit of exfoliating is that make up lasts for longer time on the exfoliated skin. After exfoliating, a hydrated cream should be applied to seal in moisture.

5. Sun Protection: applying sunscreen before going outside is important but during summers, it becomes necessary. Apply the branded sunscreens 30 minutes before going outside. It’d be preferable to not to go outside between 11 am-3pm as sun rays are strongest at this time and may have adverse effects on the skin.

6. Stay Hydrated: our body tends to lose moisture during summers. Higher temperatures & more time outdoors causes internal dehydration and results in skin dryness, headaches and drizzy spells. Try to drink 8 glasses of water per day and avoid aerated drinks. This helps in maintaining the critical moisture balance and lessens detoxification.
