Diabetes is a chronic disease and it need to be under control with perfect dose of medicines. Herbal remedies also play an important role in controlling diabetes. Herbs are the natural medicinal plants that were used during ancient period before these modern medicines came into existence. Herbal medicines mainly preferred by many people as they it does not show any side effects on using them.
Herbs Versus Chemical medicines:
Herbal medicine and treatment are very cheap and are available easily and functions very effectively when compared to chemical medicines. The chemical medicines may work fast but they cannot work efficiently. In case of herbs they work very efficiently through long periods. With correct dose of herbal medicine we can control diabetes to a considerable extent.
We must be careful, as we cannot use the combination of both chemical and herbal medicines together. This may lead to severe effects in the future even leading to death.
Herbs that are used as a medication:
Fenugreek or Methi :
We use Methi in many of our traditional dishes especially in Indian dishes and curries. Methi is a beneficiary supplement for the diabetic patients. It is very cheap in cost when compared to chemical medicines and is available at any nearest super market.
Methi has many healthy ingredients in it by nature; it has an anti-diabetic component and controls the blood glucose levels in your body. It makes the process of digestion smooth. It is also capable of increasing insulin production by stimulating the pancreatic cells. As a result we can control the glucose levels by taking that.
Preparation at Home:
- We have to soak the Methi seeds and roast them for two minutes and allow the seeds to cool and get powdered completely until smooth mixture is obtained.
- In next step add one tea spoon of hot or cold water and again boil it with one cup of seeds and steep for about 10minutes to produce a complete liquid matter.
- Take this twice in a day. We can gradually observe good results in the glucose levels in patient’s body.
Bitter Guard or Karela:
Preparation at home:
Get Karela sliced and blend. Then filter the juice into a glass. Drink with some hot water.
